Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation – 1st Corporation to be on BBPS – Bharat Bill Payments System

          BBPS has opened up a new Biller Category i.e Municipal Taxes. Municipal Taxes are a continuous source of business for Bill Collection portals. The municipal tax is semi-dynamic in nature and is hence not suited for NACH Debit collection mode.

          The volumes and values in Municipal Tax are high are decent when compared to other biller categories.

          Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation is the governing body of the city of Kalyan-Dombivli, located in the Thane district of the Indian state of Maharashtra. 

    The municipal corporation consists of democratically elected members is headed by a mayor and administers the city's infrastructure, public services and transport. Members from the state's leading various political parties hold elected offices in the corporation.

The property tax amount is calculated based on the residential area. So, it varies from one property type to other.

Property tax for a building is calculated based on

·         Basement area

·         The rate prevalent in the street where the property is located

·         Usage of the building (residential or non-residential access)

·         Type of occupancy (owner or tenant)

·         The total span of the building’s existence.

          Kalyan and Dombivli are neighbouring townhoods each with a distinct touch of its own.

Both jointly form the KDMC or Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation. KDMC is part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). So technically KDMC is part of Mumbai only.

          Dombivli is a city located near Mumbai in the Thane district of Maharashtra state, India

          Dombivli is served by Mumbai Suburban railway network, i.e. it lies on the main line of the central section of Mumbai suburban railway network. Built in 1886, it is one of the busiest stations on the Central line and witnesses a footfall of more than 300 thousand commuters daily.[1] Though none of the long journey express trains halt here, it is well connected to Mumbai and Navi Mumbai through Thane. Though during rush hours the station is an unacceptably over-crowded affair. Distance between Dombivli and Thane is 25 km (16 miles)
