Tesla – Please automate your Utility Bill Payments in Germany

'Strausberg-Erkner water association' is the Water Supplies Utility Company which supplies water to the Tesla plant being built in Germany.

As a municipal service provider, WSE is responsible for the supply of drinking water and the disposal of waste water in the association area.

As of January 1, 2005, the association area includes 3 cities and 13 communities from the districts of Barnim, Märkisch-Oderland and Oder-Spree.

The association area, in which almost 166,000 inhabitants live, covers around 552 km² and extends over the western part of the districts of Märkisch-Oderland, Barnim and Oder-Spree. The seat of the association is the city of Strausberg.

Industries / Household under the WSE command area have to pay for drinking water supply and waste water disposal.

The billing plans for both are separate, hence billed separately.

WSE accepts payments of its water bills via the SEPA Direct Debit platform. WSE customers need to fill up the SEPA Direct Debit platform Mandate and complete the associated mandates.

Tenants too can opt for the SEPA Debit Mandate channel. However, in such cases the property owner has to permit the same. The property owner has to provide his approval by signing on the ‘User change for direct billing’ form.

Please note that the same form is required for deregistering any tenant’s SEPA debit mandate too. This is necessary as ultimately the property owner is responsible for the water bill payments.

It may be worthwhile for Tesla Germany to automate payments of its water bills.

SEPA Debit

Quote

A SEPA Direct Debit is a payment instrument governed by the Rulebook for making Collections in euro throughout SEPA from accounts designated to accept Collections.

Transactions for the Collection of Funds from a Debtor’s account with a Debtor Bank are initiated by a Creditor via the Creditor Bank as agreed between Debtor and Creditor.

This is based on an authorisation for the Creditor and the Debtor Bank given to the Creditor by the Debtor for the debit of its account: this authorisation is referred to as the ‘Mandate’.

The Debtor and Creditor must each hold an account with a Participant located within SEPA.
