NPCI-BBPS (Bharat Bill Payment Service) adds LPG Domestic Gas Payments to its fold

Once the gas cylinder is booked, payment can be made via the Online Mode or the Offline Mode.

New Payment Option - And, the latest Payment Option for LPG customers is BBPS.

The integration is in process and will soon be made live for IOCL customers to book LPG Gas Cylinder across India.

Earlier, BillAvenue onboarded Hindustan Petroleum Corporation limited as a first biller to go live under the new LPG category followed by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, as stated in a recent press release from the Infibeam Avenues.

The inclusion of IOCL, BPCL and HPCL in the rapidly growing biller network of Bharat BillPay will enable their consumers to make seamless bookings and payments for LPG cylinders through multiple online channels and offline customer touch points.

Payments on the BBPS channel can be made via Offline Mode and Online Mode.

Under Offline mode, BBPS Agents Points and selected bank branches accept the payment.

Under Online mode, Net Banking/BBPS Link on Bank websites / UPI Apps accept the payment.

Please note that this is the first BBPS integration under the third-party aggregation model. Till now there was STP (Straight Through Process) through the Biller and BBPS.  Third-party integration is a new model and LPG companies are the first beneficiaries of this model.

Third-party aggregation model may be rolled out to other billers in the near future. This depends on the success of the initial tie-up.

The success will be known only when BBPS publishes the Biller wise transactions on its website. As of now, only the monthly volumes are available in the public domain. This does not assist for further analysis and focussed approach to increase BBPS volumes.          

  
Benefits of payment for domestic gas payments via BBPS

Benefit 01) Gas booking can be done by registered subscriber and payment can be done later by a 3rd party.

Benefit 02) No chance of fraudulent payments, as the payment is made on FETCH mode

Benefit 03) In case of failed payments, Query can be raised within the respective BBPS Payment APP

Account Description Does Not Tally – Return Reason Removed
