Day 4 Morning of Prayagraj Maha Kumbh 2025: A Glimpse into the Innovative Thoughts of Akhanda Producers

The Kumbh Mela is a celebration of unity, faith, and renewal

As the morning sun rises over the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers, the 2025 Prayagraj Maha Kumbh Mela is in full swing, radiating with devotion and energy. The peaceful yet profound atmosphere is being captured on camera for something extraordinary—a cinematic venture that combines ancient tradition with modern-day filmmaking. On this fourth day of the Mela, the producers of Akhanda 2 - Tandavam are creating history with their decision to film at this revered site.

This move, which sees the collaboration of producer Ram Achanta, Gopichand Achanta, and director Boyapati Srinu, is a brilliant blend of innovation, faith, and storytelling.

A Trailblazing Vision: Akhanda 2 at the MahaKumbh Mela

There’s no denying that the Akhanda franchise has captured the imagination of audiences with its larger-than-life characters and sweeping narratives. With Akhanda 2, the producers have raised the bar once again.

Shooting at the MahaKumbh Mela, an event that draws millions of people to Prayagraj to partake in the sacred ritual of the Amrit Snan (holy dip), is an innovative step that grounds the film in the heart of Indian spirituality.

Producer Ram Achanta expressed the team’s gratitude for the chance to film at this world-renowned location, noting, “We are blessed to shoot at such a revered sangamam of three rivers, capturing the essence of faith and devotion in its purest form.”

This sentiment captures the essence of the producers’ forward-thinking approach. They are not merely filming at the Kumbh for its spectacle; they are choosing to honor and highlight the spiritual significance of the event, intertwining it with their cinematic narrative.

The film’s plot centers around Aghora, the semi-divine figure played by Nandamuri Balakrishna, who preaches the values of Hinduism. What better way to depict the ancient religious practices and rituals than to immerse the audience in the real atmosphere of the Kumbh?

Achanta shares, “We wanted to film the real sadhus, who are so deeply connected to this event, making their powerful strides. It’s a visual that cannot be recreated on any set.”

Integrating the Sacred with the Cinematic

The producers’ decision to shoot during the MahaKumbh Mela is not only innovative in terms of the locations chosen, but also in their ability to portray spirituality with authenticity. The film’s Aghora-centric story ties in perfectly with the Mela's spiritual significance, and Achanta’s comment about the importance of this connection reveals the deeper layer to their approach: “The Kumbh Mela is connected to the myth of Samudra Manthan, where drops of immortality fell at this very location. By filming here, we are capturing the true spirit of this sacred place.”

This move is a bold one. In an industry where location shoots are often restricted by logistical and security challenges, Akhanda 2’s production team has managed to secure the necessary permissions from both the Uttar Pradesh state government and the central authorities to shoot at the Mela. Achanta credits this achievement to the transparency and cultural relevance of the film’s story, adding, “Most people knew that this was a sequel to Akhanda, which is deeply rooted in Hindu values and rituals. Our request was met with great enthusiasm.”

Overcoming Challenges for an Unparalleled Visual Experience

While the filmmakers’ vision is ambitious, the process of shooting amidst the bustling crowds and sacred rituals of the Kumbh Mela is not without its challenges. Security measures have meant that the use of drones has been restricted, but that hasn’t stopped the production team from achieving their goal. A dedicated 20-member crew has worked tirelessly to capture moments of divine beauty and spiritual energy, bringing them to the screen in a way that has never been done before.

The visual richness of the MahaKumbh Mela, with its sea of devotees taking the holy dip in the Triveni Sangam, is a spectacle unlike any other. Achanta notes, “These are visuals that can’t be recreated on a set. We’re capturing something that is both extraordinary and sacred, and it’s going to leave the audience in awe.” The producers have invested approximately Rs 3 crore into capturing these moments, ensuring that the film stays true to its roots while offering an unprecedented cinematic experience.

The scale of this effort is reflected in the atmosphere of the Mela itself, where more than 3 crore devotees have come together to perform rituals that span millennia. Achanta and his team understand that this is not just a location but a living, breathing entity of faith. “The Kumbh is profoundly rooted in the mythical account of the Samudra Manthan, and we wanted to be part of that history,” he adds.

Balakrishna’s Grand Return in Akhanda 2

While the Akhanda franchise is centered around the powerful Aghora, portrayed by Nandamuri Balakrishna, the star has not yet participated in the Kumbh Mela shoot due to the logistical difficulties of managing such a massive crowd. Achanta explains, “Shooting with a star of Balakrishna’s magnitude is not easy, especially in a setting where the crowds are so intense. We are hopeful that he will join us once we shift to different locations for the next phase of shooting.” The involvement of Balakrishna, who portrays a semi-divine character, will undoubtedly be a highlight of the film, adding to its already immense appeal.

A Grand Release for Dussehra 2025

Set for release on September 25, 2025, Akhanda 2 - Tandavam will be available in multiple languages, including Hindi, English, and several regional languages, ensuring its reach to audiences across India and abroad. The film will feature the beloved Thaman’s music and will star Pragya Jaiswal in the lead role, further amplifying the anticipation surrounding this massive project.

The decision to shoot at the Kumbh Mela is part of the larger vision that the producers have for the Akhanda franchise: blending Indian mythology, culture, and spirituality with the best in modern filmmaking. With their innovative thinking, they are not just making a film—they are creating an experience. The film promises to deliver a stunning visual narrative that will captivate audiences, offering them a glimpse into the sacredness of one of the world’s most revered events while telling an unforgettable story of devotion and valor.

As the shooting continues, and as the film nears its grand release, it’s clear that Akhanda 2 will set a new standard in Indian cinema, combining innovation, tradition, and spirituality to create something truly special.

Safe and Stylish: Unveiling World SafeePay and Blouse Day Delights

The need for observing World SafeePay Day and World Blouse Day arises from the absence of dedicated global celebrations for these concepts.

World SafeePay Day aims to celebrate the joy of safe electronic payments in all financial transactions, representing an abstract celebration that highlights the significance of secure and efficient digital financial interactions. As the world increasingly relies on electronic payment systems, having a designated day for SafeePay emphasizes the importance of secure and reliable digital financial transactions.

On the other hand, World Blouse Day seeks to celebrate the joys of wearing blouses in a more lively and visually impactful manner. The concept involves a powerful display of togetherness, with millions of people stepping out wearing blouses based on a chosen theme. This display celebration not only promotes a sense of unity but also serves as a unique and creative expression of shared identity through clothing.
