208th Edition of Lalbagh Flower Show opens for public, Visit Today




Karnataka’s Horticulture department is ready to host 208th flower show in Lalbagh from August 4 dedicating it the Indian armed forces- army, navy and air force.

          Karnataka Chief Minister inaugurated the 208th edition of Lalbagh Flower Show on 4th August, 2018.

          Lalbagh Flower Show is a bi-annual organised every Republic Day and Independence Day.

          Every edition has a dedicated theme around which the floral replicas are designed.    
  
          The 208th edition is dedicated to the Indian Armed Forces.  The #LalbaghFlowerShow is dedicated to the #IndianArmedForces, visitors will get to view floral replicas of PSLV, GSLV, Akash and BrahMos missiles, models of fighter jets and war helicopters.

          Lalbagh Flower Show held in Bengaluru in honor of Indian Armed Forces
           
          On the occasion of 72nd Independence Day celebrations, 208th Lalbagh flower show was conducted in Bengaluru to pay a floral tribute to the Indian Armed Forces.

The flower show started on August 4 and will continue till August 15.This year's theme of freedom fighters was chosen to inculcate patriotism and inspire children to join Indian Army.

This year's show is categorised into three sections.

Section 01) The first show will have 17 attractions including Amar Jawan Jyoti, ISRO Satellite launching vehicle and war missile models, and vertical garden around the light house.

Section 02) The second one will be outside the glasshouse which will have seven attractions including a dancing peacock, mega floral flow and hanging flowers.
Section 03) Lastly, six attractions will be in the selected areas of Lalbagh, which will have an exhibition of 200 old wood carving and fruits and vegetable attractions.

The exhibition will showcase more than 87 varieties of seasonal flowers, such as Medinilla, Anthorium, Orchids, Vinka, and Bougainvilla and various other plants. Around two crore were spent to create this flower show.

Highlight of the show will be Amar Jawan Jyothi at Glass House, where flags of all three armed forces will be on display. Invitees will pay floral tribute at the Amar Jawan Jyothi.

Commemorative models of Kannada film industry will be created to honour it for completing 85 glorious years. 

To entertain guests BSF, MEG and KSRP will play live band on all weekends.

 For the safety of children, the Department has requested school kids to visit flower show on weekdays instead of weekends.

Isro and HAL will display their PSLV, GSLV, Brahmos satellite, warplanes and helicopters at the entrance gates and four sides of the glass house.
There will be displays of defence forces which will enthral visitors at the glass house.

For the first time, tickets will include 18% GST. The Department has decided to levy GST on entry tickets only for adults. The GST on children tickets will be absorbed by the department only.
The department has also taken special measures to keep honey bees at bay. 

Keeping in line with the theme this year, there will be a drawing competition on the ‘Role of soldiers in protection of motherland’ and the ‘Border problems of India’.
On the occasion of the Kannada filmdom completing 85 years, a commemorative model of the industry has also been created behind the Glass House. It will depict floral replicas of old film reel, clapboard and cameras.

The reel itself is 45 ft long, created with more than 15,000 roses, while the floral camera has more than 7,000 roses. Totally, over 1.8 lakh roses are being used.

The department expects around seven lakh visitors for the show, which will be open to the public from August 4 to 15.

The department, in an effort to keep the flower show environment-friendly, has banned plastic on the premises.
