          Three distinct entities are part of the Ibibo Group i.e Goibibo, MakeMyTrip and RedBus.in

All the three are in travel and hospitality sector. This means every day large number of visitors drop on to the websites and transact for their requirements.

          This means there is a need for seamless Payment modes. And, here, UPI clearly fills the bill.

Ibibo Group is an online travel organisation founded in January 2007 by Ashish Kashyap. The company is a subsidiary of MakeMyTrip Limited, which owns a 100% stake in Ibibo Group. Group owns the B2C online travel aggregator Goibibo, and online bus ticketing platform RedBus.in. Wikipedia

 

As per Goibibo website, customers can make their booking using any of the following payment options -

·        Credit Card (Visa and Master Card)

·        Debit Card

·        Diners Club International

·        Net Banking

·        Maestro Card

·        EMI (CITI Bank)

Please note as per the above information, UPI is not yet a payment option.

Or UPI may be offered as a payment option by Goibibo payment gateway.

          We have to wait and watch if the GO handle will become the default UPI handle across three associated companies i.e Goibibo / MakeMyTrip / RedBus.in

          Volumes can come in if the same Goibibo handle is deployed across the three associated companies instead of obtaining individual UPI handles

7 Benefits of an own UPI Handle

Benefit 01) Reduce TAT. Customers need not log into another App/Website to complete the transaction. This will reduce the TAT for a successful transaction and also reduce failed transactions due to Payment Gateway issues. 

Benefit 02) Refunds, if any, for cancellations or other reasons can directly be credited to the customer’s account almost instantly. The refunds need not pass through multiple hops.

Benefit 03) Increase stickiness of customers, as with an own UPI Handle customer’s trust factor for using the Apps increases manifold.

Benefit 04) Reduce operating expenses for the merchant, and the savings can be passed on to customers.

Benefit 05) Increase the reach of the Apps to Tier IV to Tier VI where many bank accounts holders are very familiar with UPI, but not so familiar with other payment methods i.e Debit Card / Credit Card / Net Banking etc.
